What was ANCHOR about?

 

Ryoppa again, and this time I have song information!

Since my music isn't very big, I don't know what people think things in songs mean, which really sucks because I'd love to see the thoughts of others on what a song is "supposed to mean".

Today is ANCHOR, ft. Waltt!

ANCHOR is about some feelings i've had recently, I was extremely close to going on estrogen a while back but I ended up not doing it for some reason, and this song is the accumulation of fearing I made the wrong choice (again). In recent times I personally have realized I made the wrong choice, and ANCHOR helped me scream my thoughts about that.

Originally, the song was supposed to be about Echo, the visual novel, but I couldn't think of any lyrics for it. If you couldn't tell from the two songs (and eventually Song 4) that are written by me and not uruwashiai, I honestly struggle to work on lyrics. The lyrics in ANCHOR to say the least are a mess, I think it's clear my favorite part of working on it was the instrumental.

But even then, the lyrics do retain some meaning.

Our character here (they have no name currently) is someone who regrets what they've done, the last part of the song talking about ascending to an angel or something beautiful is them just trying to go back on what they rejected.

This song has honestly helped me realize this for myself, and I myself am trying to go back and fix my mistakes, I'm hoping I'll still be able to go on estrogen eventually. If that does happen, even if I'm an adult by then, I want to give the character of ANCHOR a happy ending, where they do become the long-haired girl at the end of the MV.

Also if you have name recommendations for her pre-transition and post do tell me. I suck at naming stuff QwQ

Song 4: Progress Update

 

Hello, It's Ryoppa again.

Recently I've been struggling a lot with writing lyrics, especially with my most recent song project.

I know what I want it to be about, I know certain things I want it to mention, I just can't write it!!

I really like what I'm doing with the song so I HAVE to finish the lyrics I have to! 

Overall I'm a little worried about this song taking a while, because not only do I have to do lyrics, I'll need to also go in and edit stuff in openutau (japanese to english phonemizer) to make Kemonone Row sing things a bit better.

Also with the voicebank I'm using, the song will use Kemonone Row, which I personally love his utau voicebanks but the unfortunate side effect is his voice-provider has given him a negative representation I fear. 

It's been around a year since Shiki Rowen's release, and only recently has a song using him gained any relevance outside his demo (It Just Keeps Going - Kaguo )

I hope this doesn't ruin the song for anyone, I just feel like Row's 2S silencer bank has the tone I really want for this song, plus it isn't a new thing for me to use his utau voicebanks if you've seen my covers channel.

Some mutuals who heard I was using Row told me maybe try using a different voicebank, but honestly I don't think other voicebanks have the exact voice I want. The closest 2nd place would be Miku's soft append, but I don't currently own append at the time of writing this. I don't want his voice provider to ruin this for me, so I'll keep going on with using Row! Hell after that I have another thing planned for him (but that's just a smaller non-original song project)

Old Song Concept

 

Hi, It's me Ryoppa again, and I'm back to talk about a song concept that predates Marchwinds (but is after Koraku in chronological order of song ideas)

This song had a few names, among ones I've forgotten but the idea was sort of consistent: Valentine's Day was approaching and I felt lonely. This is probably my first big attempt at writing a song. 

I recently started using Logic Pro, and I have to say it works really well with my workflow (at least at the time of writing this) and is just...better than FL Studio was for me! FL felt very scattered and hard for me to navigate constantly swapping windows all the time but Logic is just very nice and neat.

Back to the actual song: This was going to use Adachi Rei's VCCV bank, as I really liked hearing her usage in the soon to be released MACHINA MORI and also GIMMICK GIRL by MonochromeMenace. 

While there were many itterations of this song idea, eventually leading me to scrap it and instead make marchwinds, here's what the final one I came up with sounded like.

These were placeholder lyrics, lyrics are usually the last thing I write.

I didn't really like the direction I was going in, and with a mix of teenage angst, the song weathergirl by Flavor Foley hitting me with inspiration again (Queen of Venus inspired me to use Rei) I wrote marchwinds. That's something I'll discuss some other time though.

 Hello everyone it's Ryoppa! I hope everyone is feeling okay because as I'm writing this I'm a little sick...

This is my new blog where I'll share stuff about my music a lot! Especially on the idea side since I want to blab about the stuff in my songs (characters like kora-chan) or even just the concept itself and how I made the intrumental.

I hope to anyone reading you enjoy it, it'll take me a bit to get this website to look nice so it looks sorta ass right now, but I hope for it to be a nice looking site soon.
